West Lulworth’s Jurassic Coast
Monday, April 23rd, 2007last weekend , me and my colleagues drove down 2 hours south west of
London to the coastal town of West Lulworth. This coastal seaside town
is part of what is called Jurassic Coast where you can find 150 million
rocks and fossils of trilobytes and jurassic era trees.
here are some pics to share , do give this place a visit if you’re around London , it is definitely worth the trip..

when we arrived there , we opted to park nearby Durdle Door…from
there it is about a 10mins walk down the white gravel path , quite
slippery and very steep..since me being a fatty kid with large momentum
, i had to do a zig zag so that I won’t walk down too fast and ended up
tumbling down the path

on the way down that steep slope , we saw another small bay/cove on the
east end of Durdle Door which in itself is a very nice place to chill
.. the beach is primarily made up of pebbles instead of fine grained
sands like in Malaysia..

the same cove viewed from the west
connected to this cove is the famous Durdle Door - made of rocks of 150
millions years old called Portland rocks. On top of the door you can
actually see fossils of trees but it’s abit hard to see from the
picture though

F100 found on the pebble beach! hehe.. my treasure..

My colleague Aaron throwing some pebbles into the sea..

yours truly enjoying the beach…pardon the fatty model ha ha..this pic was taken by my colleague Elsie with here 350D
once we were done with Durdle Door , we drove 5 mins eastward to check
out Lulworth Cove and Stair Hole. Pictured above is the Stair Hole
where the beach is made of large rocks. This picture was actually taken
on top of this magnificent stone structures called the Stair:

i was on top of that thingy , so you can imagine how big is the
structure. Geologically speaking , this place has significant interest
due to the formation of the rock folds. These lines used to be straight
horizontal lines but due to earth’s tectonic plate movement , these 150
million years old flatbeds have been folded so many times in such a
weird angles as you can see from the picture. Hence the ‘Stair’ name…

this is the ‘Stair Hole’

this is Joyce , a friend of mine taking a picture of us with Elsie’s 350D camera..

Coastal town of West Lulworth , very cozy small English country side town…

Lulworth Cove , this is at the east end of the Stair Hole , will post more pics of this place later..
That’s all for now!
