College Buddies

Monday, July 30th, 2007

usually when I go back to Malaysia I’ll make an effort to see my college mates from my uni days in US..

these photos were taken yonks ago (well actually last april) , just got around to drag my lazy ass to develop this photo and also get ‘em scanned..

developing B&W film has been quite a recent hobby - my first attempt was around February this year..

_dsc0485

first , load the B&W negatives into the developing tank , pour in the chemical..and shake away baby!

 _dsc0490_1

hang film to dry ;)

for this particular roll , I have done push processing
*warning* geek talk ahead! *warning*
push process is where you deliberately shoot the picture darker / underexposed and you compensate for this by developing it in the chemical longer to make the picture bright again..the advantage is this you get usable shutter speed since you’re shooting an underexposed picture in the first place..and the grains/tonality looks nice too :)
*end of geek talk*

here are the pictures from the roll that I have processed the other day , hope you guys like it!

some Ustaz who wants to jalan2.. went to Pulau Pagang which is about 1
hour 20 min boat ride…here is the seldom used jetty.. there were only
like ..4 ppl on the whole island?

no one here also..just sandy white beach and crystal clear water

this is the boat we took to the pulau..

we then head off to Pulau Siromonjong..

hmm just me and the beach..well there was this one gwailo couple from
Spain camping there overnight..very brave..the guy even swam across to
the other island (100 meters away , water about 50meters deep) to take
a dump!

Somewhere Along the Indian Ocean….

70 RM / 10 pounds per person for a whole day island hopping tour on this pretty little fella..
kinda slow though!

villagers helping out pulling the Pukat (fishing net) during sunset in
Teluk Bungus. I’ve asked one of the villagers , how much is the catch
worth - he told me it is around 150 000 rupiah (60 RM) a day , shared
by about 10 villagers who together pulled the pukat

more pics to come…

Can someone please sack FAM’s management team?

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

man..
i’m no big football fan - i’m not really someone who keeps tab on whats happening with EPL la let alone malaysian football and such..

i’m not really big on footie that much all , well except that time when I’ve managed to score some extra tix for Manchester United vs Aston Villa match courtesy of Victor and suddenly I SMS’ed all the ppl in malaysia telling them ‘hey man , look out for a malay fattie bald guy on TV when the game at Old Trafford starts tonite’

but somehow watching AFC games where Malaysia lost 5-1 to China and 5-0 to Uzbekistan, I feel like something needs to be done..

so please for the love of all thing that is holy , ..can someone sack these ppl?

if this were happening in UK , the whole management would resign..maybe
in Japan they would commit Harakiri or something to avoid shame..

i don’t blame the player at all..they’re just a product of the inefficient system that we have..we need a total system shakedown..shit man i feel like doing a demonstration in front of FAM building in kelana jaya..too bad flying off to London tomorrow..

no malaysians should be subjected to feeling embarassed of our team like we currently experiencing right now..

can we have some proper sports management ppl managing our official national football body please instead of some politically connected people please? their party sucks anyway..

peace out

btw before i left for phuket - i went over to Syahrin’s studio just here in Tmn Melawati to play - play with my polaroid charged RB 67 mamiya medium format camera..

here are the photos!

mr rawkers himself - syahrin aziz
superb wedding photographer - look at his fotopages at http://nirhays.fotopages.com

syahrin’s partner in crime - Acai - he set up the lighting for me..pictured with his trusty lightmeter - this Black n White tone kinda reminds me of those Calvin Klien underwear advertisement look - maybe I should do one like it but wearing Kain Pelikat or something.. *IDEA BULB LIGHTS ON!*
