these are my B&W taken with Nikon F100..apologies for the scratches

when we were there some smart aleck decided to climb up one of the
cliffs and suddenly got himself into a situation where he cant climb up
and too risky to climb down. So the lifeguards came in to the
rescue..this is their copter..

well this pics were taken yonks ago..only uploaded it today to cure my roti telur cravings..yummyy
Oriental City in Colindale ( on Northern Line tube ) is about 30 mins from central London. It used to be a Yaohan shopping mall (yes yaohan just like the one near PWTC , legend hotel tu..)
however biz wasnt so good so i think they folded but the shopping mall is still operating with variety asian store selling stuff (cheap computer stuff , china , chinese dvd etc) and a big oriental supermarket where you can get serai , daun kesum , lengkuas and such .. if only they have daun kunyit!! boleh masak rendang..
anyway here’s two pics from that place..

there’s a food court here that serves oh my god the best asian food in this part of the world.. you can get authentic roti telur here! the kuah ikan even taste better than some stupid malaysian franchise mamak in KL (sorry Lotus , Pelita fans :P)
they also have nice char keow teow also can get some nice vietnam beef noodle soup and also there’s satay!!! go try the satay - it is damn good.. yum yum cooked by some makcik who’s been in london for 12 years .. Puji2 satay it is called..

comforting to know you can find belacan easily in London
well there’s also a big oriental supermarket.. i usually go here every friday nite with my colleagues - do some shopping then eat some good food..what a way to start off the weekend..
oklah guys if you’re in london and craving some good malaysian food ..head to this place!
cheers

i’m actually used to puasa’ing abroad - spent 6 years is the US puasa’ing and Raya there also..
now puasa in London is abit different cos i’m working and all..most of the time i’ll break my fast alone with some tapau’ed sandwich from the BP’s cafeteria…
during lunchtime there’s really nothing much to do except to go and check out the nearby parks and also shopping malls hehe..

this is Jubilee Square - there’s a stock ticker there - sorta to signify that Canary Wharf is an important financial centre for London…
then i heard a rumble coming from the Jubilee Park - hmm sounds live a live music going on there…

to my surprise there’s a live jazz show going! yeay..some more got guitarist (anything with guitars will turn me on - even dangdut ) haha

so i sat down at the park enjoying the show for about half an hour..the guitarist has a nice ibanez semi hollow guitar but not sure which series..

during Ramadhan , the Friday prayer is held somewhere else to accomodate the sudden surge of friday prayers goers hehe.. where were they all this while?
the Canary Wharf Islam Association arranged for an unused 18th floor of one of the buildings on Bank St to be used as a makeshift mosque. We had the whole floor to ourselves , there’s no sejadah or whatever - there;s plenty of carpeting and the view from there - O2 Dome , East London and Thames River is quite nice
well that’s all for now..later guys..

lately . been..bit tired ..had to commute to central London for this temporary project I’m on at BP ..but well it’s fun - the office here is pretty nice..one things i’ve noticed , office with lack of ligthing and proper facilities can make one grumpier even more..so this new place is a welcome sight

the day start with yours truly waking up at 6am (zzZZzz…) and rushed to the train station to take the 7.12am London Waterloo train with the journey time around 45 minutes

Waterloo Train Station - from here I will go to the Underground Tube service and take the Jubilee line to Canary Wharf (about 20 mins )

arrived at my office - this is the view from the 4th floor
Canary Wharf used to be a dockland area where ships will disembark their goods - now it has been converted to a corporate area - full of high rise tower building like HSBC , BP , Citibank etc…

coffee break area..

this is my workstation.. IBM Thinkpad laptops connected to two NEC Multisync LCD and Cisco VoIP phone..neat stuff..

after work , maybe I’ll head to Chinatown for dinner..about 30 mins ride in the Tube then head back to Waterloo station to catch the train back to Egham..usually will reach Egham around 8-9pm.
that’s all folks..oh Selamat Berpuasa kepada semua yg Muslim

however the commute abit penat and tiring.. had to wake up at 6 am , catch the 7.12am or 7.23am train from Egham to Waterloo Train Station. Take the Jubilee line to Canary Wharf from there..arrive around 830am.
repeat the same process again when goin back..so v tired.. i’ve also moved in to new apartment so no net access yet..but too tired to even bother not having an internet access anyway..
these are some photos taken at my new pad.. used autostich program to stitch together 6-8 photos so I can get a good wide angle view of the bedroom and living room

last weekend went Cornwall again…being a newbie , I’ve figured I should practice some surfing
took the train to Newquay,Cornwall… first board the train at Egham and then change at Reading for a 5 hours train down to south west of UK..
the scenery was quite nice..all things small english town charm and country side scenery…

this a view from the train when the train was crossing the Tamar Valley River just outside of Plymouth..
then the train arrived in Newquay..surf capital of UK

newquay train station

5 minutes from the train station is the Great Western beach..where I’ve surfed (or trying to!) surf for the second time..love this place..
stayed at Christopher’s Inn backpacker hostel..got to know this bloke Barry for Ireland who came down to Cornwall for some booze and i think he said he was paid to perform , he brought his acoustic guitar and all.. quite cool fella..

this is the view from the hostel during breakfast time..overlooking Towan Beach..quite neat eh? love this place..it is about 20 pounds a nite for bed sharing the room with 5 other ppl..
anwyay the second attempt at surfing and due to strong wind the waves wasn’t that good..again it’s quite hard to stand up properly….
being on the heavy side doesn’t really help too..
a board can hold up so much weight to remain buoyant and to float properly.. add extra 20 kilo to that board it will sink . just like below he he

anyway it was a fun weekend .. maybe I’ll get a longboard something around 9 foot long..this will help with the buoyancy I hope
until next time..cheers!

interesting Art Exhibition by the National Portrait Gallery of London (i think)
they will put up a copy version of a painting with proper framing
around London’s street with a brief descriptions.. there’s a
podcast/mp3 audio guide that can be downloaded off the web (complete
with maps and all)
Here’s one example near Chinatown (around Leicester Square) taken about 3 weeks back..

on the other hand..just behind me while shooting this pic is another interesting ‘exhibition’ going on too!!

but seriously folks..I wonder if we can do this kind of exhibtion in Malaysia?
(not the brazillian one of course he he)
I think it is a very good idea..very creative in getting normal average joe appreciating arts
peace out fr London
